Sanjaya Malakar Outlasts Hunger-Strike Girl

He's already outlasted Chris Sligh, Stephanie Edwards, and Bradon Rogers. Now, we can add one more Sanjaya naysayer to the list. Sanjaya has outlasted one of his stranger critics, "J", who setup a MySpace page, telling the world that she would go on a hunger strike until Sanjaya Malakar was voted off American Idol.

I think it's a safe assumption that "J" figured Sanjaya was sure to go in the next round, and she would be back to eating burgers and fries within days. Unfortunately for her, that was not to be. Sanjaya lasted through the Round of 11 vote, and the Round of 10 vote, without even being one of the bottom contestants either week. Last week, Sanjaya's mohawk intrigued viewers, and even left Simon Cowell speechless, not a small feat.

With the help of VoteForTheWorst.com and Howard Stern, Sanjaya is sailing through each week with plenty of votes. Hunger Strike Girl, a Buffalo, NY native, finally had to call it quits, citing her doctor's orders. She appears to have taken down the website that made her a semi-celebrity, and has returned to obscurity.

Simon promised to quit if Sanjaya won the competition, and every day, it's looking more and more like Simon may have to answer for his remark. If Sanjaya and his mohawk win, we can all mark up a victory for the underdog.
